John is an advisor to major donors and strategic grant-makers who want to do the most good with their currencies. He's also the author of Connected for Good: A Gameplan for a Generous Life and the creator of the Generosity Gameplan™. This is a step-by-step process for people of means and substance who seek to create real change using a new approach to generosity. He's also a consultant who provides management services to donors, foundations, and nonprofits that want to increase their impact by giving from the heart.

His goal is to bring generous people to a destination where each act of generosity comes from the true desires of their heart; where relationships are built an inch wide and a mile deep; where strengths of skills and character are spent from an inexhaustible well of care; and where giving financial and material resources feels like sharing from an abundance rather than giving from what is leftover

After a successful 25-year career with the YMCA, John founded The Legacy Group in 1999 as a consulting and management firm for philanthropists, and his team counseled on charitable gifts in excess of $60 million. John’s unique ability to discover peoples’ passion to make a difference paired with his team’s proficiency in execution has earned peer recognition, as the Wisconsin Leadership Institute’s “Collaborative Leader of the Year, 2006.” John also plays the part of philanthropist as a trustee for his family’s foundation. He serves on the board of Nativity Jesuit Middle School, an urban school for Latino boys, as a philanthropic advisor for the Family Wealth Alliance, as an advisory board member for Philanthropy World Magazine, and as a Leadership and Financial Development Committees member for YMCA’s Camp Mantio-wish. John and his family live in Milwaukee, WI and Dallas, TX.
