Mick KosterRecognizing the need to redefine how nonprofit organizations succeed, Mick Koster founded Thomas Mitchell & Associates to coordinate the charitable gift planning strategies of nonprofit organizations, investment firms, and the generous individual donors that support them.

Estate and Gift Design, Planned Giving, Endowment Building, Private Foundations, Charitable Trusts, and Donor Advised Funds.

With more than a dozen year’s of experience in the resource development field, he has served in capacities such as Development Director, Director of Major and Planned Giving, and C.O.O. He has led agencies through dramatic restructuring of funding sources, created and marketed new programs to attract clientele to the services, and coordinated major donor events. These experiences grant Mick an overall perspective into managing and directing the complex areas of finance, human resources, and program activities in conjunction with development.

Mick is a proven major gift and planned giving professional, individually managing large portfolios of high net wealth donors while seeking to match their goals with the charitable mission and goals of the organization. He has also created and led donor seminars on estate planning and gift design. This broad experience with not-for-profit organizations, and keen insight into the unique needs of donors, has offered Mick the opportunity to share his knowledge and expertise before professional and charitable groups throughout the United States.

Mick has been quoted in The New York Times, is a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving and the Planned Giving Roundtable of Southeast Michigan. He is a past president of the Troy, Michigan Rotary Club, an adjunct professor with a local Christian college and a past member of the Western Michigan Planned Giving Group.

He holds a B.A. Degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Michigan State University with a concentration in Nonprofit Management. He and his wife, Rebecca, have 3 daughters, and reside in Oxford, Michigan.
